Frameless, Semi-Frameless, and Framed — What’s the Difference?
Frameless shower enclosures use thick tempered glass — typically 3/8″ or 1/2″ — with minimal hardware. No metal channels along the floor or sides. The only visible hardware is the hinges, handle, and any clips or brackets. The result is a clean, open look that works in almost any bathroom style and is the easiest to keep clean. Semi-frameless enclosures combine minimal aluminum framing on the perimeter with a frameless door. They’re a popular middle-ground — a significant aesthetic upgrade over a fully framed unit at a somewhat lower price point than a fully frameless installation. Fully framed enclosures use aluminum channels along all edges. They’re the most budget-friendly option and completely functional, though less popular in custom bathroom renovations.Glass and Hardware Options
Clear tempered glass is the most common choice and works in virtually any bathroom. Low-iron (ultra-clear) glass has less of a green tint than standard clear, giving a more brilliant appearance — popular in higher-end renovations. Frosted or textured glass adds privacy while still allowing light through, which works well in shared bathrooms or layouts where the shower is visible from the main entrance. Hardware finishes include chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, and others. The right finish depends on your existing fixtures — we’ll make sure everything coordinates.Design Your Shower Enclosure Online — Right Now

The Installation Process
Every shower glass installation starts with an on-site measurement. We fabricate the glass panels to your exact specifications, then complete the installation in a single visit once the glass is ready. Plan to have tile work completed before scheduling glass — shower glass goes in at the end of the renovation, not the beginning.

Frequently Asked Questions
How thick should frameless shower glass be? Most frameless enclosures use 3/8″ or 1/2″ tempered glass. The right thickness depends on the size of the panels and the hardware being used.
How long does installation take? The on-site installation is typically completed in a few hours. Fabrication time after measurement varies but is usually one to two weeks.
Does shower glass need to be cleaned differently? Yes — squeegee after every use to prevent mineral buildup, especially important in the New Orleans area, where hard water and humidity accelerate deposit formation.
